Laganas is the main place to be on Zante with plenty of pubs, clubs, restaurants and shops on the main street which leads down to the long sandy beach. The atmosphere at night is buzzing and relaxing during the day.
If you want more variety a good tip would be to hire a car as there is only so much you can do in Laganas during the day. Tour around the coast to find many different types of watersports available as well as some great beaches and coves for sunbathing and snorkeling. One definite 'no no' is to hire a pedalo on the Laganas beach as we had an episode of 6 lads nearly being washed over to Africa. We ventured out and after being warned about the suddenly strong current by a Greek fisherman to 'Go in, it's too strong' after which he disappeared the right way in his high powered speedboat. We couldn't get the motion to get back to shore and eventually after drifting for what seemed like miles we were rescued by a quickly dispatched glass bottomed boat. Hey at least we got a free boat trip on the way back in !!!
Watch out for the main road which has some lethal pot-holes and dodgy moped drivers which caused further antics on my behalf as I participated in some ditch diving after having a few too many beers one night in Laganas.
